DECISION BY THE PRIME MINISTER ON TRANSFERRING THE CONSTRUCTION HOSPITAL TO VNU

On November 9, 2022, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1376/QD-TTg on transferring the Construction Hospital under the Ministry of Construction to Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU).

According to the decision, the Construction Hospital is to be reorganized into VNU University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital.

Ministries and agencies: Finance, Home Affairs, Health, Planning and Investment, Hanoi People's Committee shall collaborate in guiding the transfer and receipt of the named hospital in accordance with the current processes, procedures and regulations.

The Ministry of Construction and VNU shall take the initiative in collaborating with relevant ministries and agencies in promptly implementing the transfer and receipt of the Construction Hospital in accordance with the regulations and instructions of the competent authorities.

Currently, the Construction Hospital has two establishments: Establishment 1 with 370 beds located in Thanh Xuan district, and Establishment 2 (under construction) with 500 beds located in Linh Dam compound, Hoang Mai district.

The transferring of the Construction Hospital to VNU and reorganizing it into VNU University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital will be the basis for promoting practical training, applied research, and technology transfer in the field of Medicine - Biology - Pharmacology as well as capacity building for students of the University to provide health care services, medical examination and treatment.

VNU will develop a model university hospital with a partnership of 4 parties including Scientist, Enterprise, User, and International cooperation.

Under VNU academic environment, the university hospital model will have the opportunity to closely connect with large training and scientific research institutions, to promote its research capacity, technology transfer and development as well as to carry out practical applications and apply high technology.

VNU University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital will be invested in developing highly-qualified human resources, attracting talents to specialize in the fields of cardiology, surgery, internal medicine, paediatrics, gynecology & obstetrics, oncology, etc.; and will be first oriented towards a Grade 1 general hospital, and then towards a special hospital with 1,000 beds after 2030.
