VIETNAM PRIME MINISTER APPOINTS MR. LE QUAN AS PRESIDENT OF VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, HANOI

On June 24, 2021, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 998/QD-TTg on the appointment of Mr. Le Quan, Deputy Secretary of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, as VNU President.
 

The newly appointed VNU President, born in Hanoi in 1974, a former member of the 14th National Assembly, was recently elected to the 15th National Assembly for Ca Mau province with high voter confidence.

Mr. Le Quan, a diploma holder in advanced political theory, a PhD in Management Science at the University of Toulon (France), an expert in human resources development and entrepreneurship, was appointed as associate professor in 2009 and as professor in 2017.

Mr. Le Quan has held the following leadership and management positions: Head of Human Resources Management Department (Thuongmai University); Member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Francophone Entrepreneurs; Director of the Center for International Training and Education (VNU University of Economics and Business); Director of VNU Organization-Personnel Department; Member of VNU Party Standing Committee, Head of VNU Party Committee Organization Office, Chairman of VNU Party Committee Inspection Commission; VNU Vice President; Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Deputy Secretary of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee.

Mr. Le Quan is known as the founder of the Human Resources Management Club and Forum; the founder of the Entrepreneur Café series, Vietnam Human Resources Day and university governance innovation activities at VNU.

As Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Mr. Le Quan marked his contribution with the promotion of information technology application and administrative reform. The areas which Mr. Le Quan were in charge of, such as social insurance has been much innovated; the restructuring of vocational education has achieved a number of major breakthroughs. Mr. Le Quan also made contributions to proposing and building a welfare support package for those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Working in Ca Mau as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Quan made many breakthroughs and innovations in directing and governing the economic and social development of the province to promote investment attraction with a focus on planning and developing the marine economy, reproducing and increasing the agricultural value chain, among others.

* Previously, on January 30, 2021, Secretary of VNU Party Committee, Chairman of VNU Council, VNU President Nguyen Kim Son was elected to the 13th-tenure Party Central Committee;

On April 8, 2021, the National Assembly adopted a resolution approving the Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint VNU President Nguyen Kim Son as Minister of Education and Training;

On June 10, 2021, Minister of Education and Training, VNU President Nguyen Kim Son was elected to the 15th National Assembly for the 2021-2026 tenure.
