IOI 2021: VNU HUS HIGH SCHOOL FOR GIFTED STUDENTS CONTESTANT WINS A SILVER MEDAL

On June 28, 2021, the closing ceremony of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2021, at which, Vietnam’s team won 4 silver medals, was held at VNU University of Engineering and Technology.

This was the second year the contest, hosted by Singapore, had been held online due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The IOI 2021 took place from June 19 to June 25 with the participation of 351 contestants from 90 countries and territories.

Amid the complicated COVID-19 spread, Vietnam had thoroughly prepared for its contestants to attend the IOI 2021, meeting the 2021 IOI Organizing Committee’s requirements on both epidemic prevention and professionalism.

All four members of the Vietnamese national team have won silver medals at IOI 2021, namely:

- Le Quang Huy, a 12th grader from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students;

- Ho Ngoc Vinh Phat, a 12th grader from Quoc Hoc – Hue High School for the Gifted in Thua Thien-Hue province;

- Truong Van Quoc Bao and Nguyen Hoang Vu, 11th graders from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in Nghe An province.

With the achievement of 110 medals since 1989, Vietnam is ranked 7th and continues to be in Top medal winning countries at IOI.
