IOI 2019 FEATURES THREE MEDALISTS FROM VNU HUS HIGH SCHOOL FOR GIFTED STUDENTS

According to the information from the 2019 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2019) held in Azerbaijan, all the four Vietnamese participants, three of these are from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students, won medals including two golds, one silver and one bronze.

This year’s the Vietnamese delegation was led by Assoc. Prof.Dr. Le Sy Vinh, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU UET). VNU UET is assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to train Vietnamese Informatics teams for regional and international exams.

The two gold medals went to Bui Hong Duc from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students and Trinh Huu Gia Phuc from Lam Son High School for the Gifted (Thanh Hoa Province); Vu Hoang Kien from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students won a silver medal; and Nguyen Minh Tung from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students won a bronze medal.

Statistically, the Vietnamese team ranked 4th, the same position as that of the Korean team, behind Russia, China and the US
